Financial Performance


Our financial results for 1996 were outstanding. Systemwide restaurant sales approached $620 million. Comparable restaurant sales increased 11.9% at Company-owned restaurants and 5.9% at franchised units. Revenues increased 42% to $360 million and net income increased 60% to $18.6 million.

In January 1996, Entrepreneur magazine ranked Papa John's number one in the pizza category (and 34th overall) in its list of the 500 best franchise opportunities in the country. And Papa John's has been named (and this is where the rubber meets the road) "Best Pizza" in over 40 markets, most recently in Memphis, Nashville, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Louisville!
