What I Don’t Do

I don’t recommend anything without listening to you first.

Many companies or consultants have a ’sweet spot’ of technology or aptitude in which they excel.  Yes, there are strong recommendations for many common problems, but if your uncommon needs do not match up to the ‘common’ solutions prescribed by others, I will tell you what is better for you and why.

I always make an assessment of your needs and resources before I recommend anything or bill you for anything.

I don’t prescribe anything that does not match up to the objectives or personality of your business.

“Set up a Facebook Page and Twitter account to maximize engagement! That seems to be the battle cry of most ‘consultants’ these days.  Many of these ‘consultants’ were probably selling real estate 2 years ago. I’ve been on the bleeding edge of digital marketing, mobile and web-based product development for 15 years now, so I know what works and doesn’t work for businesses of many sizes and flavors.

I only recommend what makes sense for you, your resources and your goals. And I leave the Buzzword Bingo board locked up at home where it belongs.

I don’t make empty promises.

Did that ‘internet guru’ tell you that you’d be #1 in Google in no time?  Well, there are no guarantees in SEO, even for those with unlimited budget, so he’s flat-out wrong.

I set realistic expectations based on my deep knowledge and experience.  Not from some ‘cool article’ I read.

I don’t claim to know or do everything.

I’m not a designer, developer, video producer, copywriter (or accountant or physician or carpenter). So I work with them regularly and speak their languages, but if there is something we can’t do for you (like a knee replacement surgery) we’ll tell you up front!

If we don’t have the capabilities, we won’t waste your time and money figuring it out. We’d rather connect you to another expert.

I don’t nickel and dime you after the initial investment.

So you got a bare-bones website for the price of a plane ticket but now you’re paying just as much for minor maintenance?  I don’t think changing a line of text or a single image should cost more than the phone you used to call me.

We’ll always work out a plan to accommodate any future needs / updates / additions.
